Here at Of Eve Beauty we strive to make shopping black owned easier for you. Our online beauty supply is stocked with some of the best black and people of color owned hair care products, styling tools, and cosmetics. Many of our supplied products come from small businesses, and by shopping through Of Eve you help us to help them. Our goal is to shed a spotlight on black owned brands in the beauty industry that mainly get overlooked, while circulating the Black dollar in our communities.
Our Story
Of Eve Beauty was founded and created by Daphney Ducatel in October of 2020. Having worked several different jobs in customer service and hospitality since she was 18 years old, Daphney took it upon herself to face her fears and finally launch what is to be considered the beginning of an empire. Despite an ongoing pandemic with the uncertainty of job security, Daphney had a vision. She decided to start off with an online beauty supply store making many small black owned brands available to everyone in her community that found it hard to find and support these businesses in the first place.
Then there’s the message behind the name: Of Eve. Scientific research has been able to track the Eve gene back almost 200,000 years to a woman at the start of mankind in Africa. Research has concluded that this area in Southern Africa (modern day Botswana) is where Eve and her descendants lived. The gene is found in mitochondrial DNA, which is inherited from your mother, and has been passed down for generations. This doesn’t conclude that Eve was the only woman at that time, but instead one of the main ones with surviving female children. Overtime as the linage split into subgroups it became more diverse, creating humans as we see it today.
